Our team of sales professionals has provided naming rights counsel, sponsorship sales and valuation services for some of Canada’s largest sports, arts, cultural, philanthropic and entertainment properties. POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the business leader, the individual will have accountability and responsibility for all aspects of the sales function including overall client management, strategy lead generation, pipeline management and execution.
You will be responsible for leading, developing and driving strategic partnerships with sports, entertainment and cultural properties, generating new revenue streams and fully leveraging the brand equity of clients through sponsorship opportunities while promoting Sponsorship Canada as a partner of choice. You will also be the primary lead on all day-to-day internal and third-party sales, negotiations, agreement preparation and servicing. All of these activities are key to ensuring the long-term success of the business.
In addition to operating at a strategic level, you will also bring a strong leadership role to the organization. The Director, Business Development will be an active member of a close-knit team and work closely with all functions of the business.

ACCOUNTABILITY
▪ Work as a member of the leadership team and actively support the strategic plan to drive revenue.
▪ Lead all sponsorship sales and partnership functions from conception through lead gen to the deal and execution of the agreement.
▪ Develop and implement a strategic sales plan for new and current clients, ensuring that prospects are in place to meet current year growth targets as well as for future years.
▪ Define, create and implement a portfolio of new business initiative projects that will generate new sources of revenue.
▪ Be a key face and voice of Sponsorship Canada internally and externally to foster new sponsorship relationships and increase brand awareness.
▪ Establish a priority list of available partnership/sponsorship assets.
▪ Leverage the full value of client brand equity, assets and inventory.
▪ Lead brainstorming with the team, encourage and think through big ideas, articulate your thoughts and build integrated solutions that will help companies advance their businesses through a partnership with Sponsorship Canada clients.
▪ Develop activations that integrate events and programming to meet the needs of client business objectives and to also build additional value for sponsors.
▪ Ensure that a superior level of client service with all current and future clients is met.
▪ Responsible for planning, forecasting, budgeting and cost management processes as appropriate.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS AND PERSONAL TRAITS
▪ Minimum 8 to 12 years of progressive sponsorship sales and partnership experience gained primarily with a business involved in sponsorship, or sports or entertainment properties.
▪ Undergraduate degree or diploma, preferably in Business Administration, Sports Management or a related field.
▪ Proven new business development, sales and customer service expertise in the sponsorship and media field. Has the ability to hit the ground running and aggressively increase revenue while developing strong relationships.
▪ Extensive experience and knowledge of the Canadian sponsorship landscape and the leading businesses in each vertical. You have key contacts and/or relationships with key decision makers at Canadian organizations that are currently worldwide sponsors, national partners, official supporters or suppliers to sport/entertainment in Canada.
▪ A digger and a driver. Competitive and goal-oriented, sets high standards and is driven to achieve results.
▪ A big thinker. Balances creativity with being accountable for the sponsor’s investment and net benefit to client.
▪ Skilled negotiator. Effective in contract negotiations and has familiarity with contractual language.
▪ Operates with fiscal responsibility demonstrating strong budgeting, business planning and resource management skills.
▪ Solid project management skills and effective time management and prioritization skills. Plans, organizes and monitors performance according to priorities with ability to multi-task and set/reset priorities.
▪ Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment and decision-making skills.
▪ Ability to approach problems from a solution-oriented standpoint with tact and sensitivity.
▪ Exceptional communication skills to represent the brand, properties and growth potential of our partners.
